A recipe for intergenerational dumplings

Add a group of grade III b pupils from the Public Primary School to the Seniors Club, stir them together using a teacher and the President of the Association for Supporting the Development of Kowala. Add a delicious, fresh stuffing made of joy and smile, season it with a Older Person's Day greetings card - that is a recipe for an extremely successful afternoon, which was organised in October by the hosts from the Public Primary School in Kowala.

Time is unjust and relentless. Every one of us will eventually become old, but we don't have to lose our happiness or abandon our goals. This is what we have learnt from this unique dumplings cooking lesson... As soon as in the first minutes of the meeting it occurred that the age difference was no barrier, as the guests invited by us were older in age but not in spirit. They can and do live actively and are very creative, and younger people can learn a lot from them. Everybody was playing games and was having good fun and the atmosphere was very cheerful. There were also discussions about problems and mutual expectations. The biggest joy was when everybody made dumplings together, which was a new experience for most of the children. Finally, the participants tasted the dumplings and took a group photo. The meeting was not only fun but also an important element of educational work, which should teach the children how to build social skills based on mutual understanding, empathy and sensitivity to the needs of older people. The idea to hold integration classes with the seniors once again showed that sharing experiences between generations has a deep sense, as through such sharing we can discover the potential of older people and learn about their experiences as well as become more open to the members of older generations. In short, it is beneficial for both parties. And the dumplings.... delicious.
