Campaign “Bet on family!’ was initiated.
On 21st January 2013, a ceremony on the occasion of Grandmother’s and Grandfather’s Day was held in Janusz Korczak Primary in Kowala. Ceremony was an opportunity to inaugurate campaign “Bet on family” in Kowala Commune. Wonderful performances of youngest pupils make grandmothers and grandfathers broadly smile. They listened to songs and poems performing by their beloved grandchildren with emotion.On that occasion representatives of the Local Social Welfare Centre prepared a presentation “Irreplaceable grandparents” . Purpose of the presentation was emphasising role of grandparents in their grandchildren lives. It was pointed out how important are they for young generation, how much kindness, warmth and peace they bring in children’s lives, how much they can teach them and how much joy they can give them. It was also shown, that young generation’s development and what people they will be in future depends on their grandparents in large part. Thanks for them children see the world. They listen to stories about ancient times with interest, they took new information in, they are pleased with every conversation. Grandparents are the ones who can give precious experiences to grandchildren, show them how to live well. Thanks for intergenerational bonding children learn respect for senescence and old age. Acceptation and trust of grandparents is a capital, which help young people build their sense of personal value. Closeness of generations supports all members of the family.
It is worth to know, that senescence of societies is a challenge, but also a big chance. Your children will grow up among increasing group of seniors. It is worth for them to know, what is old age and to respect it. Learn your children showing intergenerational solidarity. Risky behaviour’s (drinking alcohol, using other stimulants) prophylaxis specialists pointed out, that jointing grandparents, who are depositaries of life wisedom, into raising children is a natural factor protecting from educational problems.
Leaflets “Fishing with grandfather”, “Solidarity of generations”, “From generation to generation” purchased as part of campaign, were also given out during the ceremony.
Materials like posters, leaflets and teaching publications were passed on to all of schools and kindergarten within the community.
